Thermoplastic Polyurethane Elastomer (Polycaprolactone) (TPU-Capro)
Thermoplastic polyurethanes are known for their outstanding abrasion resistance. Polycaprolactone based TPUs offer performance between that of polyester- and polyether-based TPUs. This included intermediate resistance to fuels, oils and water. Polycaprolactone is a specialty building block in high-performance polyurethane elastomers. Polycaprolactones can be made with relatively narrow molecular mass distribution they are modified to produce specialty polyether polyols. The polyol component of polyurethanes made with polycaprolactone can give relatively low glass transition temperatures to the flexible segment of the polyurethane. They give materials with good hydrolysis resistance.
