Thermoforming
The process of heating a plastic sheet to a point where it is pliable enough to be re-formed. The heated sheet is then placed in a mold that closes on the heated sheet, conforming the sheet to the mold. The sheet is then trimmed to create a usable product. Thermoforming can be done with a pre-made sheet or can be done as an in-line process where the sheet is extruded and then fed directly into the thermoforming mold. A well-known thermoformed product is the disposable drink lid.
