Spunbond Nonwovens
A process of making nonwoven fabrics using continuous filaments spun in a single process. The process uses a standard extruder to melt the plastic; typically PP, nylon, or PET. The molten plastic is then fed into a melt pump for precise metering of the melt. The melt pump forces the melt through a spin pack that forms many fine filaments. The filaments are quenched, typically in air, and then stretched or drawn in an attenuation unit. The filaments are then dispersed onto a moving belt, forming the fabric. Bonding of the filament is typically done with heat.
